Rachel Baskin has experience filing applications for United
States Citizenship (Naturalization) for qualified applicants.
She can determine whether you are eligible to file the
application, file the necessary documentation and attend the
Naturalization interview with you.
Eligibility to naturalize depends on the manner through which
you received your lawful permanent residence (green card).
If you received your green card through marriage, then you will
be eligible to naturalize 3
years after you first received your green card. Note that
even if you still have a conditional green card, as long as you
are still married and living with your U.S. Citizen spouse, you
are eligible to file your Naturalization application after
3
years.
If you received your green card through any other means, or you
are divorced or separated from the spouse who sponsored you,
then you must wait 5
years before you are eligible to file your Naturalization
application.
In order to qualify for naturalization you must:
-
Reside in the United States continuously for the last
3
years (if married to a U.S. Citizen) or
5
years.
-
Take no trips outside of the U.S. for more than
6
months prior to applying
-
Have a valid lawful permanent resident card (green card)
-
Speak, read and write English (in certain circumstances
there may be exceptions)
-
Have a basic understanding of U.S. government and history
-
Provide proof that you have paid your taxes
-
Demonstrate good moral character
